Finding Joe

Sometimes I depart from the book format to bring a movie or video I find especially compelling or inspiring. Finding Joe is a little treasure of a movie which bring’s Joseph Campbell’s famous myth structure The Hero’s Journey to the screen. This film’s unique beauty is the way adult ideas and the play of children combine to evoke both reason and magic. It reminds me anew how this classic ancient mythology helps me make sense of the circumstances and events of my life, find meaning in them, and inspire and illuminate my next steps. At one-hour and twenty minutes, it’s not a “get it quick” experience. So if you are curious, select a cozy comfy spot, a cup or wineglass of your choice, and settle in.
